SPMH Accomplishments

The financial generosity of many, the major financial contributions of a few and the dedicated hours given by volunteers, has provided an outstanding record of significant accomplishments for the Society for the Preservation of Music Hall. Please consider a contribution to help SPMH in its mission to preserve, promote and improve Cincinnati's historic Music Hall.

The following list includes some of the preservation and enhancement needs provided through donations to SPMH to reach the organization's goals:

  • Publishes and mails to members the SPMH newsletter ''Music Hall Marks'' to members twice a year
  • Contributed $3 million to the Music Hall Renovation project, targeted for the renovation and restoration of Corbett Tower
  • Funded the moving of paintings, statuary and artifacts from Music Hall, and storage of these art works, to protect them during the renovation
  • Restoration of the art-carved organ panels that adorned the original Hook & Hastings organ
  • Provided a $50,000 funding grant to CET for a program on the renovation of Music Hall
  • Hired a tour program director and created Music Hall guided tours with all volunteer tour guides, including the Speaker Series and In-school Program
  • Cleaned and restored the Springer Statue in the Music Hall Lobby
  • Refurbished and installed the Albee Mighty Wurlitzer Organ in the Ballroom
  • New House Curtain and lining, Proscenium valence; Draperies for Box seat area and stage front
  • New carpet for Auditorium; American Flag for Stage
  • Memory Plaque - Louise Dieterle Nippert, Donor
  • Lighting for Front of Music Hall on Elm Street - Rhoda and Manuel D. Mayerson, Donors
  • Restored handrails in Balcony and Gallery; Refurbished South office entry and lobby; Redecorated and added furnishings to Office Reception area, kitchen, hallways and Conference Room.
  • Restored Oil Painting of ''Carmen''
  • Assisted with New Seating on Orchestra and Balcony Levels in '92 - The Corbett Foundation, Donor
  • Repainted seven Dressing Rooms and Backstage Hallway
  • New Carpet - Three Floors of North and South Corridors, Promenade Area on Balcony Level where Statues, Portraits and Photographs are on Display
  • Installed and Illuminated a 50-foot Flagpole and American Flag in Front of Music Hall on Elm Street - Mr. and Mrs. Donald C. Siekmann, Donors
  • Installed new carpet on three floors of North and South Corridors and Promenade area on Balcony level.
  • Painted Restrooms and installed new wall coverings; put mirrors at drinking fountains
  • Painted Critic's Club and added wall covering and new rug; refurbished bar and tables
  • Installed lighting behind the Rose Window
  • Created and Installed a Timeline in the Central Parkway Entrance Corridor - Louise Dieterle Nippert, Donor
  • Added Chandelier Lighting in Music Hall Foyer - Patricia A. Corbett, Donor
  • New Signs Installed Indoors and Outside; carpeted, plastered and painted Coat Room in the Foyer
  • Refurbished Green Room - Multiple Donors
  • Refurbished CSO Music Director's Suite - Patricia A. Corbett, Donor
  • Assisted with Installation of Passenger Elevator to Service all Three Floors in Music Hall - The Corbett Foundation, Donor
  • Provided Music Hall with a commercial carpet-cleaning machine; purchased radios for Music Hall Security; funded the repair of a panel in the ceiling of the Foyer
  • Purchased chairs for the Critics Club
  • Raised awareness for Music Hall through the Music Hall 125th Anniversary Celebration and Event; raised funding through the Painted Violins project
  • Produced a 90-minute, award-winning documentary program about Cincinnati's historic Music Hall in collaboration with CET - Cincinnati public television - and the Cincinnati Museum Center
  • The SPMH Corbett Trust purchased software for the Bravo Shop to track inventory and equipment for processing customer transactions
  • The SPMH Corbett Trust provided the final piece of funding for ticketing software that enables print-at-home ticketing and electronic ticket scanning
  • The SPMH Corbett Trust enabled $15,000 in plumbing replairs to restrooms and water fountains and extensive painting through Music Hall
  • Refinishing of the Music Hall Ballroom, stage, and rehearsal hall floors
  • Refurbishing the large wooden doors at the front (Elm Street) entrance to Music Hall
  • Provided $100,000 to the Music Hall Revitalization Company, as an advance toward the total commitment by SPMH for the revitalization of Music Hall
